You are right that a 1080p HD image has just under 2 megapixels. Now where you have to be careful is in considering the aspect ratio of your camera. If it shoots natively 16:9 images and it has 2 MP, then you would have enough resolution. If the camera has a 4:3 sensor which is the most common for small cameras, a 2 MP camera would most likely

5MP Super HD security cameras, also known as 5MP security cameras, gain a resolution of 2560*1920. They are currently the mainstream in the security camera filed and deliver much clearer images than 1080p and 720p IP cameras. 1080p Full HD security cameras produce images with the resolution of 1920*1080.
A quick search indicates that that "12MP + 12MP" means exactly that: two 12MP cameras. One is a "standard" camera, for the other several possibilities exist (depending on maker): monochrome, wide angle, or tele lens. The 8MP is a 3rd camera facing the other way (for "selfies" while watching the screen).
2.8mm gives around 90 degrees viewing angle. 4mm on average gives around 75 degrees viewing angle. the more narrower the lens, the focus is further away. Eg. typical 4mm lens is focus 4-10 metres. typically 2.8mm is 1-6 metres. This means that for areas like the front door where you are capturing someone 1-4 metres away, 2.8mm is ideal. • Our most popular cameras • Models include domes, turrets, bullets, mini-bullets/domes, and fisheyes • 2-, 4-, 5- and 8-MP • IP67 and IK10 protections • Integrates well with Pro and plug-and-play NVRs • High performance, fully-loaded project cameras • Wider field of view with ƒ/1.2 lens; unique rapid auto-focus
2. Siamese Coax from a roll. Siamese Coax is RG59U + 2 lead 18awg stranded power wire that is used in professional installations and highly recommended when considering a DIY project. If you are using 4K or higher resolution HD security cameras over coax, then it is a must.

helenbach. The difference between Mag's number and mine is fairly simple: I'm converting MP to MB and Mag is converting pixels to MB. 'Mega' is not 1 000 000, it is 1 048 576. A 1000 x 1000 image in PS results in a 2.87 MB file, a 1024 x 1024 image results in a 3 MB file (if RGB, 8 bits per pixel per channel).

The human eye is not dissimilar to a camera, but we don’t see in pixels at all. However, if we were to compare, scientist and photographer Dr. Roger Clark assumed that in order to create a screen so sharp that you wouldn’t be able to see individual pixels, you would need 576 million pixels within your field of view. That's 576 megapixels. .
